CSLA Summer Swim Team
General Information
Our goal is to help develop our athletes to reach their maximum potential. Our coaches are dedicated to providing our athletes with the tools and resources necessary for them to reach their highest possible level of performance, while also encouraging an active, healthy lifestyle.
Our groups are divided by age and ability. Our goal is to unite swimmers of equal caliber and provide them with quality training. The groups are not set in stone and as a swimmer progress, he/she can be moved to a higher group.
PRACTICES
Swimmers practise Monday to Friday 17:00- 18:30 at the indoor pool. Each group will have 1 practice a week at the outdoor pool.
We encourage swimmers to come to as many practise per week as they can.
Swimmers need a swimsuit that is suitable for swimming laps rather than sunbathing. They need goggles that fit well. Cote Saint Luc will provide them with bathing caps and a t-shirt. Swimmers can use CSL’s kickboards, flippers, and pull-buoys, unless they already own their own.
Swim competitions take place on Wednesday nights, either here at the outdoor pool on Mackle, or at competing pools in the West Island.
Warmups are generally at 5:30pm with the competition itself starting at 6pm. The summer swim competition schedule, which is determined by the NAA, is listed below and available online at www.naaswim.com .
The 5 Wednesday night dual swim meets (competitions) are:
*A Summer Swimmers Competition is on a Saturday, July 23rd at Valley Crest pool. This swim meet is for new swimmers only, who have not been affiliated with a winter team.
*A Time Trials Competition is on Saturday, August 6th (at Walters pool) which serves as a Semi-Final where swimmer’s times are taken into consideration and ranked amongst all swimmers in The NAA Big Meet, which serves as the Finals, is on Saturday August 13th at Ecclestone pool.
For our team to hold a good standing amongst competing pools, swimmers must attend competitions.
VOLUNTEERING
The success of each CSLA swimmer’s experience relies on our amazing volunteers! Each swim competition requires 30+ volunteers. We are regularly recruiting volunteers for all roles pool-side (timers, judges, meet managers, etc.) We also need volunteers to hand out ribbons to the swimmers.
All families are expected to volunteer especially at all meets for which we are the hosts.
COMMUNICATION
Parents are not allowed on the pool deck during practice. Coaches will be happy to speak with you before or after practice if you have questions or concerns regarding your child(ren)’s swim team experience, please. Their coach holds the most accurate information regarding their training, development, and competition.
