Why host meets at CSLA?
Hospitality
When we host meets we get to show off our beautiful pool. We have one of the fastest pools in the province so it is a great place for swimmers to race. And it also affords us a perfect opportunity to raise important funds for our team to ensure the quality of programming at our club continues.
Of course when we host meets, we all have to work together to make these competitions a success.
When we host meets, we need to provide at least half of the officials on deck and we must provide warm hospitality to our guest clubs in the form of meals and snacks for the officials, volunteers and coaches. This means that we all have to work together to help out and ensure that all the tasks are taken care of.
Hospitality is a crucial element at our hosted meets. We must provide sustenance to all the volunteers and coaches at the competition so that they can do their jobs without worrying about hunger or thirst. Our hospitality coordinators plan economical, healthy and delicious menus for the competitions then request food contributions from members, sponsors or ask the club to make specific purchases. Lead volunteers (usually 2 or even 3) will be coordinators for one day only of a competition ensuring that the session hospitality volunteers (ideally 6 to 8 per session) have someone "in charge" who knows the schedule and what is needed to be done. This system ensures that no one has to do more than their share and that all the tasks are well-taken care of without burning people out. We need everyone to take two turns at hospitality during the season. This can be at our hosted meets or at team champs where we will also require hospitality volunteers during the weekend in Trois-Rivières to assist getting lunches, dinners and snacks distributed to all the swimmers. Please respond to the call: the officials, volunteers and coaches will appreciate your efforts.
